Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation of resuscitation training for healthcare professionals including nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, and other healthcare and public safety personnel. BLS program content includes single-and multiple-responder CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automatic external defibrillator) use, as well as how to care for a patient who has an obstructed airway (choking).

Our blended learning experience combines online coursework with instructor-led training. Knowledgeable, understanding and able to deliver information suited to a wide range of learning styles, Bear CPR first aid instructors will help ensure that you not only understand the steps for performing first aid, but that you have the confidence and skills necessary to perform them correctly. The American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed to train healthcare professionals including nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, and other healthcare and public safety personnel to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. Created with the latest information available, our BLS classes allow you to learn life-saving techniques and can help prepare you for a career in the medical field, as a police officer or firefighter or another career where caring for others is part of the job. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) valid for two years. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the online portion.
Once you register you will receive a confirmation email with instructions.
You will then receive an email 3-7 days prior to your scheduled class with a link to the online portion of the course, downloadable study material, and additional instructions.
Duration: 2.5 hours in-person skill session course
Depending on the participants’ experience and familiarity with course content, the online session can be completed in 45 minutes to 2.5 hours, including the post-assessments and final exam. Typical completion time for the online session is approximately 90 minutes.
Certification: 2-year American Red Cross certificate
Online Course: The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion.
